ABIS is an independent consultancy providing expert advice, training and operational support to telecommunications operators and regulators in the fields of Revenue Assurance and Quality of Service.
ABIS undertakes Revenue Assurance, Audit, Quality Management and consultancy projects. We have provided support to Telcos, billing Application Service Providers, Product Vendors, Consultancies, OFCOM and the UK Approval Bodies (BABT, NQA and BSI), Conference and Training providers. ABIS was engaged by Ofcom (the UK regulator) to undertake research and investigative testing of telecommunications services provided by selected service providers / operators.
We have developed public training courses which we have delivered globally for a number of conference and training organisers.
We also offer bespoke packages to meet an individual client's needs. We have been engaged by 34 clients and have been active in 30 countries.
ABIS was commissioned by Tarifica PBI Media Ltd to research and write a report on Margin Management. ABIS also researched and wrote a substantial report entitled Successfully Managing Revenue Assurance, published in 2001.
Specific areas of expertise include:
v Revenue Assurance - analysing products, services and the causes of revenue losses in fixed and mobile operators. Developing recommendations for performance measurement and improved working practices.
v Audit - defining and conducting internal and external audit programmes to meet company objectives or local regulatory requirements.
v Quality Management - detailed understanding of ISO 9000, TQM and Business Excellence models and their application to the telecommunications industry to define and achieve performance targets relating to revenue assurance and quality of service.
v Quality of Service (QoS) - Analysing the status of quality management and QoS performance. Producing proposals for implementing QoS improvements
v Training - our inter-active workshops on Revenue Assurance and Quality Management principles have featured in international conferences run by IIR and PBI Media. We have also delivered bespoke in-house training for clients in East and West Africa, USA, Norway and Thailand.
v Telecommunications Regulation - ABIS has liaised with OFCOM (previously OFTEL) and other telecommunications regulators in the above areas and participate in their initiatives to develop telecommunications regulation. We have worked with / for BABT, BSI and NQA. David Smith has also attended and provided input to the MABABF (UK’s Metering and Billing Approval Bodies Forum) meetings. ABIS has been directly involved in some of the Metering and Billing approvals work conducted by NQA in both mobile and fixed operators.
Other Services -Through our network of associates ABIS can offer fraud risk assessment and management, billing accuracy certification and physical security services (facilities and personnel).
ABIS, on behalf of the GBA, undertook a survey of standards relating to telecommunications billing, and conducted their annual Billing Performance Benchmarks during 2001, 2002 and 2003.
